What good will healthcare reform be if we have 12% unemployment with a real unemployment rate more than 18%
Helping to create more jobs should be our federal government’s number one priority. Although healthcare reform is something this country needs, it has to be put on the back burner and all our resources, financial and otherwise, must be dedicated to job creation.
We are already hovering at a 26-year high for unemployment. With everything in a capitalistic society basically based on everyone having jobs, we are in dire straits. Unemployment edged down to 10 percent in November, but that has a lot to do with seasonal jobs.
This joblessness among our masses is creating a “depression” in our housing market. The real estate market is hemorrhaging profusely. Without jobs people are not buying houses, without buyers, homes are not being built, without homes being built construction and manufacturing jobs are being lost, not to mention all the countless businesses and jobs associated with construction and manufacturing being affected.
Jobs and real estate are intertwined like the roots of an economic tree, once the rot in the roots sets in, the economic tree will fail to flourish. We need jobs.
Obama and his administration have to stop giving us false hope with delusions of grandeur; we need a real plan with real results. Anything less is unacceptable.
