Robert Schmalz

Robert Schmalz, CEO of West Los Angeles Real Estate Group, has done things his way from the very beginning. His outside-the-box manner of thinking and doing things has made his success in real estate inevitable.

Originally from New York City, Mr. Schmalz earned his business degree from Brooklyn College and worked briefly at a large textile company before setting off on his own. He quickly found his niche as a rag man, moving to LA many years ago and building a successful business from the ground up.

He grew his small company into a $60 million venture with over 200 employees, with an extensive client list including Gap, Abercrombie & Fitch, The Limited and Ann Taylor.

About 10 years ago, Mr. Schmalz set his sights on the real estate industry. He invested heavily in large real estate transactions, eventually gaining interests in regional malls, condo conversions and residential subdivisions.

Committing to his passion, Mr. Schmalz switched his focus to real estate as a full-time enterprise. With his California real estate and broker licenses in hand, he became heavily involved in the foreclosure market, working with banks to help sell their ever-increasing inventory of distressed homes.

When the residential market bubble burst and he saw many real estate agents getting out of the business, Mr. Schmalz felt the time was right for a new kind of real estate company, one built on professionalism, honesty and integrity.

To that end, Mr. Schmalz created West LA Real Estate Group. This one-stop shop, with investments, conversions and all other residential property transactions in one convenient place, would maintain the highest level of service and client satisfaction possible.

Keller Williams, one of the fastest growing realty firms in the country, was an obvious choice as an affiliate. An established company that shared his vision, Keller Williams exhibited the qualities Mr. Schmalz holds in such high regard. Keller Williams built a solid reputation on its commitment to its clients, employees, agents and associated brokers.

This affiliation expanded West LA’s services to include in-house mortgage and insurance facilities, and the ability to offer a full spectrum of services to contractors of the highest caliber.

Mr. Schmalz has been living in Brentwood for over 10 years with his wife, Barbara, and his 8 year old son Jacob. He has two grown children, Craig and Danielle, who live in New Jersey and Denver, respectively.
